When October arrives with rain and autumn storms, we head down south to the beautiful state Uttarakhand in India.

We find Uttarakhand in Himalaya, near Nepal and Tibet. It’s sunny and warm and has an amazing view of the snowy mountain tops at 7-8000m. It’s a pleasure to drive a motorcycle here. We can see white mountains tops, green strir hills, roaming rivers and profusions of flowers just from our seats. We drive from fresh mountain air to cozy country sides where you can smell food, incense and cow poop. We meet happy waving school children and we feel the kindness from the indians wherever we are.

Delhi. Sightseeing. Train to Corbett.

We arrive in Delhi early in the morning and sleep a few hours before we eat a late breakfast. We will spend the day exploring Karol Bagh, the area where the hotel is situated, and also the motorcycle hub in Delhi. We will also look at some other places in the city before we take the night train to Ramnagar and Corbett National Park, lying at the foot of the Himalayas
3

Driving around in the national park

We arrive at the hotel in the national park early in the morning. The Enfield’s will be waiting for us here and after breakfast we will take them for a little test drive. We go for an elephant-safari in the beautiful environment later in the afternoon.
4

Corbett - Pangot (70 km)

We head out on a jeep-safari early in the morning. Maybe we will catch a glimpse of a tiger? After breakfast, we will start the actual tour. The first leg will go to the mountain village Nainital. We will continue our drive toward the Jungle Lore Birding Lodge in Pangot. This area offers exotic nature and wildlife, including leopards, apes and over 150 different bird species.
5

Pangot to Shitlakhet (70 km)

We continue our journey after an early breakfast. We drive on thin, curved roads that run through untouched nature. The trip takes us to Mukteshwar, beautiful with all its staircase-hills, and further toward Binsar.
6

Shitlakhet to Binsar (60 km)

Today we drive though beautiful landscape to Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary. It is a gorgeous, quiet and alluring destination in the Himalayas that was established in 1998, covering an area of 45,59 km2. It is home to a big selection of flora and fauna. Zero Point is surrounded by dense forests but it is from here we can see the amazing view of some Himalayan peaks, for instance, Kedarnath, Shivling, Trishul, and Nanda Devi.
7

Binsar to Kausani (65 km)

Binsar to Kausani via the temple villages Bageshvar and Baijnath. We stop along the road to look at some temples from the time when Baijnath was the capital in the Katyuri dynasty. The remains of this dynasty can be found at the banks of the Gomti River in the form of a group of temples. The temples are known for its stone pillars, made to look like the hindu god Parvati. Kausani lies at 1890 MAMSL, encircled by snowcapped mountains. One of these mountains is Nanda Devi, which is 7817 meters tall, making it the second tallest mountain in India. There are not many places that can compete with the beauty in Kausani – a picturesque mountain village, known for its charm and panoramic view of the Himalayas. Mahatma Gandhi called this place “The Switzerland of India”.
8

Relaxation in Kausani

We use this day to rest and calm down. We travel to a “teafactory” and watch how tea is produced. We have the opportunity to go for some shopping in the villages or just simply relax in the cozy hotel that has a stunning view.
9

Kausani - Chopta (190 km)

We drive from Kausani and down to Baijnath and continue toward Tharali through fields and pinewood forests. There is a small path that takes from Tharali, up into the mountain and down to Nandraprayag. We continue by following the Alaknanda river that winds deeper into the Himalayas. We drive from Gopeshwar on narrow roads into the mountain with an amazing view. We continue further into the jungle until we arrive at today’s camp. A camp in a idyllic setting!
10

Topptur til Chandrasila. (10 km MC-kjøring)

Today we eat an early breakfast while it’s still dark outside. After breakfast we drive a few kilometers into the valley. In Chopta we ride on mules into the mountains while we see a spectacular sunrise over the Himalaya. We are going up Chandrashila, which is a mountain top of 4090 MAMSL. On our way there we pass Tungnath temple which is the world’s highest Shiva temple. After we admired the panorama view of the Himalayas, we ride/walk back down to our motorcycles and relax the rest of the day.
11

Chopta - Sari (30 km)

After breakfast we drive down to Sari where we parked our bikes and walk up to the Deruthal lake. The lake is encircled by forests yet it has an astounding view of 7000 meter tall white capped peaks. We will eat supper here out in the open. It’s a special experience to spend the night in the wilderness of the Himalayas!
12

Devriyathal - Pauri (132 km)

13

Pauri - Shivpuri/Rishikesh (100 km)

After breakfast we drive a relatively short trip from Pauri to Shivpuri. When we arrive at Himalayan River Runners Camp, a few kilometers from Risikesh, we relax on a big sandbank. We take a swim and enjoy beach life by Mother Ganges (where it’s still clean!). In the evening we drive to Rishikesh, well known as “the world’s yoga capital” due to the Beatles coming here in the 60’s to find their guru. While our mechanics are taking care of our bikes, we head out into the very special city of Rishikesh. There are two bridges that cross the river and above the Lakshaman Jhula bridge is the 13 story temple to Swarg Niwas and Shri Trayanbakshwar. Monkeys accompany us as we pass the bridge, looking for food from pilgrims and tourists. We spend the evening around a campfire by Ganges.
14

Rafting, sightseeing in Rishikesh and bus to Delhi

After a good breakfast buffet it’s time for one of the highlights of the tour; rafting on Ganges! We take it easy in the beginning and when we’ve got the right technique we head on to more advanced stages. Safety is number one and is taken care of by experienced Nepalese rafting instructors who knows the river. It’s possible for those who wish to try river kayak or body rafting to try that. The water is warm and nice. After lunch and some relaxation we get on a bus to Delhi. To see the swarm of people, cows, bikes and other things along the way is an experience itself. We arrive in Delhi late in the evening and stay at a hotel in the city.
15

Day off in Delhi

Today you can do whatever you feel like doing. Relax by the pool. Go shopping at one of Delhi’s many markets. Walk around and see a bit more of Delhi. Or why not go back to the motorcycle place in Karol Bagh? In the evening we eat a great last dinner together.
16

Departure to Europe

At night/early in the morning, we head to the airport for departure to Europe.

Meget godt organisert!
