Departure Oslo

2

Arrival Kathmandu in Nepal

We arrive at the airport in Kathmandu. We visit Patan Durban square that is on UNESCO’s World Heritage list. We also visit Boudhanaths stupa that is one of the world’s biggest stupas and is placed along the old trading route to Tibet. In the evening we have dinner with a theme of Nepal.  På motorsykkel i Nepal
3

Kathmandu – Manthali 130km

The motorcycle adventure begins. First stop is a small town called Dhulikel where the tour guides Åshild and Jim used to live and work between 2015-2016. The traffic from now on gets a big easier and the road is incredibly curvy through the farms along the Sun Kosi river. We stay at a hotel in the small village Manthali.
4

Manthali – Okhaldhunga 120 km

We drive east. The quality of the road differs. Sometimes we experience great roads that are built with Japanese engineering knowledge and sometimes we drive on roads that don’t deserve to be called roads. We drive up serpentine roads, up along a mountain hill to Okhaldhunga where a Norwegian couple, both doctors, have built a hospital. An exciting day with a nice view and joyful motorcycle roads.
5

Okhaldonga – Phatale (Everest view) 30 km – Kimti 165 km Total 195 km

We wake up early while it’s still dark outside and we see the sunrise as we drive to Patale. We walk up a mountain where we get to see great views along the way, 8000 meter high mountain tops, such as Mount Everest. If we’re lucky with sight we get to see the world’s highest mountain range, right in front of us. When we’ve enjoyed the view we walk down to the countryside and eat breakfast in Patale bazar. From there we drive back to Manthali and over to the Norwegian-built power plant where we stay the night next to the river. Mount Everest på MC
6

Kimti – Charikot 40 km– Dhulikel 104 km Total 144km (Bathedanda homestay)

We start early. The road takes us through pine forests on narrow, curvy roads with a view over Gauri Sankar on 7154 MAMSL. We drive through Charikot and get a nice view when we drive along the mountain range of 2000 MAMSL. We stay the night in Bathedanda homestay that is run by Fulmaya Thamang, a woman with an exciting story.
7

Dhulikel – Namobudha – Panaothi – Nagarkot (Club Himalaya) (Everest view) 50 km

After breakfast with a sunrise over the Himalaya we look around in the areas around us where people still live in thin sheds after the earthquake 2015. We explore the small village Dhulikel where the tour guides lived in 2015-2016. Later on we drive on narrow unpaved roads through the jungle to Panaothi and to the market where we have some snacks. An exciting day continues on curvy roads to our next Mount Everest view point and to the nice hotel Cluc Himalaya in Nagarkot.
8

Nagarkot – Dhading (coffee farm) 120 km

A slow morning at the hotel before we head out and drive through Kathmandu on curved roads along the Trisuli river. We exit the main road and drive toward Dhading before we start off an exciting climb through tiny villages on an unpaved road. Here we really get to show our off-road skills. Our target is the beautiful coffee plantation on the top of the mountain. We get to see how coffee is made and we also get to taste the coffee with the exquisite Himalaya quality. While drinking coffee we enjoy the view of such as Manaslu of 8163 MAMSL. We stay in small cottages and get local food served in the free.
9

Dhading (Country paradise resort) Opportunity of a guided walk or an off-road trip

This is a day when you get to rest and just enjoy the place and view. Maybe go on a walk in the mountains and pay a visit to the countryside. Or why not play around with your motorcycle on the unpaved roads in the mountains?
10

Dhading – Chitwan (Green Park Chitwan) 127 km

We jump on our Enfielders and drive down the mountain again on the curvy roads and continue to Chitwan National Park which is the oldest national park in Nepal. Over 932 km2 with jungle and rivers. A true paradise for the wild life. We check into our nice hotel that is just by the gate to the park. We enjoy the pool and see elephants strolling by.
11

Chitwan national park with an opportunity to go for a canoe trip, see elephants swimming or jeep safari

We get to enjoy the entire day at the park. There are lots of possibilities for activities such as paddling canoe, see crocodiles, see elephants taking a swim, go for a ride in a jeep and see the elephant safari in the jungle. You can also just relax by the pool and have a stroll if you’d like.
12

Chitwan – Tansen – Pokhara 310 km

Today we get on beautiful curvy asphalt roads. We have lunch in the city Tansen which has the steepest roads you can imagine, but also cozy narrow roads. After that the road continues to Phokara where we see the tops of Annapurna of 8000 MAMSL, such as the characteristic mountain Fish tail. We live on the ocean side with lots of tiny stores and great restaurants.
13

Pokhara (Temple tree) with a possibility of paragliding

Phokhara is a lovely city that is next to the beach Phewa lake. We stay at a nice hotel with pool and walking distance to shops, museums, pubs and such. Phokara is known for paragliding and if you want you could see the mountains and the sea from a bird’s perspective. It’s an amazing experience.
14

Pokhara – Kathmandu 204 km

After a great breakfast at the hotel it’s time for the last day on the road. We have not gained some experience driving in Nepal and are therefore ready for the traffic on the main road between Phokhara and Kathmandu that can be a bit hectic. The road offers an amazing view over the rivers. The evening is spent strolling around in the tourist district Thamel in Kathmandu. Here you can find lots of fun things to see and buy. We end our evening with a celebration dinner.
15

Kathmandu – Oslo

Time for departure. With lots of memories and our memory cards filled with pictures we thank Nepal and fly home. We think – how are we suppose to tell about this trip? You just have to experience Nepal!
